DALLAS, Texas – The following are recaps of players that excelled at the C2C Spotlight this week in Greenhill School, TX.

Rachel Hall, Cy Fair (TX) 2018, Goalie: The event MVP, Hall had a tremendous week at C2C Spotlight. The University of Oregon commit made some big time saves against some tough shooters. Fast, supremely athletic and quick to turn a save into run past the 50 for an easy clear into the offensive end. She appears as comfortable outside the crease as she is inside. A big time pickup for the Ducks. Hall possesses impressive stick work, communication skills and reaction time.

MVP Rachel Hall of Cy Fair (TX)

Sydney Lawrence, Plano (TX) 2018, Midfield: An All-Star, Lawrence has great speed and agility. Love the way she shoots the ball. Never takes plays off. Uncommitted, she has a knack for getting the ball on the ground off of back checks. She dodges hard and has power behind her shots. A “do it all” middie. Lawrence is a kid who is going to make a school very happy picking up an “under the radar” late bloomer.

Keilyan Michaelis, Coppell HS (TX), Midfield: Michaelis is a strong all-around athlete with tremendous strength and good footwork. The uncommitted star from Coppell made some great plays this past week.

Chloe Hunter, Kinkaid (TX), 2019, Midfield: An All-Star, Hunter is one of the best players in the 2019 class in Texas. The UPenn commit can do it all, shoot, win the draw, and play solid defense. Her strength, speed and stature out her on par more with a college junior than a rising high school junior.

Caleigh Wilbourn, The Woodlands (TX), 2020, Attack: The Houston area is developing some excellent players and Wilbourn is in that mix. The rising sophomore caught the eye of several of the college coaches that were at Spotlight. Wilbourn has a solid 8-meter shot. Love her speed and Lax I.Q.

Hayley Reardon, The Woodlands (TX) 2018, Midfield: An All-Star, Reardon is going to be a key player next season during her senior year for the Woodlands. Another University of Oregon commit dazzled and made some great plays. What stands out the most is her hustle and her shot on goal. She made more than a few draws drop with her effortless, no look, through the legs goals during the week.

Nakeeya McCardell, Kinkaid (TX) 2020 Midfield: An All-Star, the 2020 class in Texas is loaded with talent and McCardell displayed that she’s one of the reasons why. She’s very athletic and she moves the ball with ease. McCardell hustles on every play.

Katelyn Love, Hockaday (TX), 2017, Midfield: An All-Star, the Penn State commit did a nice job showing why she was recruited by the Nittany Lions. Love is dangerous at the draw control and she’s got a nasty dodge when she goes to cage. Great speed and I.Q.

Aaliyah Jones, Austin (TX), 2020, Goalie: An All-Star, Jones got better in the cage as the camp went on. She never got discouraged when she let in a goal. Jones loved the opportunity to play in front of coaches and with other great area talent.

Shae Murphy, The Woodlands (TX), 2019, Attack: The uncommitted attacker from Houston, Murphy was a strong finisher all camp. With the ball in her stick, she keeps her head up, goes strong to cage, gives solid feeds, and has good footwork.

Megan Carney, 2018, McKinney (TX), Attack: An All-Star, the Syracuse commit never ceases to impress with the ball in her stick. While excelling with her shot power and placement, Carney also stands out with her speed on the fast break and her relentlessness on the ride. Her field vision and passing skills far surpasses her age. Keep an eye on this kid in the ACC in coming years.

Gabrielle Coben, Greenhill School, 2018, Midfield: An All-Star, Coben is a blazing fast lefty who sets herself apart with her off ball cuts. She seemed to get better every day as her comfort level with new teammates in various drills and games increased. It is not surprise she is a former club soccer star when you see her footwork on the defensive end. Some school is going to luck out with this 2018 pickup who has tremendous upside..

MaryMegan Wright Hockaday School, 2021 Midfield: An All-Star, Wright looked like she was having a blast the entire time she was on the field. Without question an up and coming player to watch. What stood out most was her quick first step, which gave her time and room to dodge all week. She is a work horse in midfield and possesses speed that cannot be taught. She more than held her own on the draw against players three and four years her senior.

Courtney Anderson Coppell, 2018 Midfield: An All-Star, the Stanford commit was a lockdown defender all week. Her offball communication was excellent. She was a go to player on the clear and possesses an excellent awareness when she had the opportunity to go to net. Her shot has some serious power behind it.

Charlotte North, Episcopal School of Dallas (TX), 2017 Midfield: An All-Star, the ball was a magnet to North’s stick all week. She possessed uncanny stick work and was a dominant force on the draw. She never took a play off and rode hard all week. She has a cannon of a shot and picked corners on the 8 all camp. This is a kid who looks to make an immediate impact for the Blue Devils in the fall.

Helen Park, Heritage Hall MS (OK), 2021, Midfield: Park is likely to be the first big time girls’ prospect to come out of Oklahoma. Having grown up playing boys’ lax, the stick work, ball movement and shooting skills that she developed from that side of the game is evident. She is fast, young, and dangerous with the ball in her stick. This is name that is certain to be on the radar of many schools for years to come.

DALLAS, Texas – There were many talented players competing last week at the C2C Spotlight at the Greenhill School – and one group singled out by college coaches was the pool of goaltenders.

For several years, Texas has developed many standout D1 boys’ netminders. After three three-day event in Dallas, it’s apparent that the state is developing many top girls’ goaltenders as well.

Spotlight MVP Rachel Hall (Photo by Sherri Edens)

Another goalie that earned All-Star honors was 2020 Aaliyah Jones of Stephen F. Austin.

Overall, there were 11 goalies at the camp, including three committed players, Greenhill 2018 Brooke Allen (Army) and Southlake 2018 Chloe Monroe (Marist). Other goalies that made impressions were Episcopal School of Dallas 2019 Gianna Pope and Hockaday 2020 Margaret Woodberry, who was recently selected to the Under Armour Southwest Underclass team.

The event featured elite instruction from 13 Division I college coaches from NCAA champion Maryland, Syracuse, Virginia, Stanford, Denver, Duke, and others.

“I think it’s great for the sport and how it’s growing in Texas,” said Hall, who moved to Texas from the hotbed of Upstate New York (Niskayuna) at the age of 12. “Elite college coaches quickly evaluate your play and make recommendations for improvements that most high school coaches aren’t aware of. Summer events like C2C spotlight make me a better player in preparation for my final high school season and for playing at the college level.

“I think this event is a really great opportunity for kids down here. We are not in Maryland and New York so we can’t drive to tournaments. This camp, being here, we get to have really good coaches and we get looks from top schools.”

Hall said she learned many new skills that will help her prepare for her senior year and for the rigors of college lacrosse. Throughout the week, in addition to working with the college coaches, the Hall and the rest of the goalies received elite instruction from former US team goalie and current Boston Sound goalie Liz Hogan.

“The event had amazing coaches,” she said. “As a goalie I always learn a lot from top competitors. Any time an event sponsors top goalie talent, like Liz Hogan, high school goalies can’t help but learn and get better.

“The competition included multiple all-American and all-state committed players. Shots come at you from all directions at high speeds. Focus and tracking the ball was essential in making the stops.”

Hogan praised the group of goalies.

“The C2C spotlight camp has always brought some of the best talent not only in the Texas area, but from states near and far alike,” she said. “This year was no exception, especially when it came to the goalie department.

Stephen F. Austin’s Aaliyah Jones

“Throughout all of the lessons, working directly with the goalies, observing their involvement in field player drills and scrimmages, every keeper brought some of the best talent I have seen in one camp in quite some time. From top D1 commits to freshmen, every goalie was constantly stifling opposing offenses. Furthermore, they all were like sponges and came away from camp even better.

“I was continually impressed from day one with the talent that the spotlight camp brought. There’s no better feeling than seeing players learning a new skill and being able to implement it in game situations. It was an absolute pleasure to coach everyone, especially the goalies, and I look forward to seeing the best attend next year as well!”

Jones said she came to C2C Spotlight to work on her form and to become more aggressive.

“I am trying to get better form and put in as much work as I can in learning how to go to the ball,” she said. “I want to be more accurate with stepping to and keeping my eye on the ball so I can make a clean save. And I am working on my bounce shot.”

Jones enjoyed the competition at the C2C Spotlight as well as the quality instruction.

“I love how challenging it is,” she said, “I just take away as much as I can since this is a once-in-a-lifetime thing and not many people get to experience this.”

Why did you choose Marist? “I love the atmosphere at Marist. Everyone is so helpful and really enthusiastic about Marist which I love. It’s a school focused on academics, and I liked that there’s a lot of options to choose from major-wise if I decide to change my major. It’s such a beautiful school that feels like home already. It’s right on the Hudson River with beautiful scenery, buildings, and all four seasons (something we don’t really get in Texas). The coaches were amazing and really really care about the girls athletically, academically, and personally, and the team’s spirit and energy was exactly what I was hoping for. I couldn’t be happier with my commitment to Marist.”

Highlights from the 2017 season: 2nd round playoffs

Thank You: “I’d like to thank my parents for coming to every single one of my games, lugging me halfway across the country 5+ times a year, loving and supporting me endlessly in pursuit of my dream, and putting up with my pregame jam sessions since 3rd grade. I’d also like to thank my high school coach, Faith Renner, for caring about me like a coach and a friend, and for giving me an idea of what a great coach is like. Also, thank you to my club coaches, Maggie Koch and Molly Ford, for pushing me to be the best goalie I can be. Y’all rock.”
