DALLAS, Texas – A group of more than 80 players began competing Wednesday in the Girls C2C Spotlight lacrosse showcase at the Greenhill School in Dallas.

The 3-day event features training and showcase games with skills instruction from 11 Division I coaches (including Maryland, Duke, UVA, Notre Dame and James Madison). Following instruction the first half of the day Wednesday players competed in showcase games.C2C spotlight

Here are some players that stood out from Day 1:

Courtney Anderson, 2018, Midfield, Coppell, TX – Anderson moves well with and without the ball. The Stanford commit has great field vision and isn’t afraid to right to the cage when she has the ball.

Chloe Hunter, 2019, Midfield, Kinkaid School, TX – Hunter is aggressive on the draw controls and excels in chasing ground balls and finding the open man. She hustles up and down the field.

Cassidy Halloran, 2017, Attack, Woodlands, TX – Halloran is very athletic and has the tools to play at the Division I level. She is a vocal leader and she had a couple nice goals in several of the games.

Maggie Cooley, 2019, Attack, Kingwood, TX – Cooley shined in the game she played in. As one of the players to watch in the event, she didn’t disappoint. Cooley is in solid shape and moves the ball and she has a nasty shot on cage.

Chloe Monroe, 2018, Goalie, Carroll Senior HS, TX – Monroe stood out in a big way in the first day of games, making key saves and moving her hands and feet well.

Sam Miocic, 2017, Attack, Colleyville HS, TX – Miocic just recently decommitted from Mercer and is looking to play at another Division I school. She showed great field vision, good lax I.Q. and her fundamentals are sound.

Katelyn Love, 2017, Midfield, The Hockaday School, TX – Love stood out in the first day of games and in the skill sessions. The rising senior isn’t selfish and has a great shot on goal.

DALLAS, Texas – Cassidy Halloran said competing in the C2C Spotlight showcase camp last week at the Greenhill School provided a perfect chance to build her skills – and her mental game.

“I gained back some confidence that I had been lacking,” said Halloran, a 2017 attack who started for The Woodlands squad that reached the Texas Division I state semifinals this spring. “It was fun to experience skills from all the different coaches and their techniques.”

Cassidy on the left Rising Senior, class of 2017 Dylan in the middle (Rising freshman, class of 2020) Riley on the right (rising junior, class of 2018)
Compting at the C2c Spotlight were the Halloran sisters from The Woodlands, Cassidy, a 2017 (left), Dylan (2020), and
Riley (2018)

Halloran and younger sisters, Riley (2018 midfield/draw) and Dylan (2020 attack), was three of 150 that competed in the three-day event that featured elite instruction from 11 Division I coaches.

See story on players who shined on Day 1.

Cassidy Halloran said she benefited from the coaching of clinicians from sich Division I powers as Maryland, Notre Dame, Virgnia, Duke and Stanford.

“During the event my games went really well,” said Halloran, who along with her sisters made the Spotlight All-Star Team. “I feel that I had good off-ball movement due to all the new picks and off-ball movement techniques I learned during the skill sessions throughout the week. I also had some nice goals and assists.

“We are multi-sport athletes so we take skills we learn on defense and use them for other sports. It was awesome that we had all the coaches down here recruiting us and helping us learn techniques. They said girls here have the athleticism, but that we need work on our stickwork. We don’t usually get coaches like this here.”

Dylan Halloran said she was happy to work on off ball movement: “That helped a lot. The Spotlight skill sessions taught me different ways and angles to shoot and pass the ball and to make my shot more powerful – something I have been working on.

“The coaches all had different ways on how to shoot and pass and I really enjoyed learning all of the skills. During Spotlight I feel like the skills sessions and the games both helped me improve my game; it’s always good to play with new coaches and different players then what you see during your regular season.

Riley Halloran was pleased to work on her draws and shooting skills.

“Moving forward the skills I learned at Spotlight will help me with my draw control and power on my shots,” she said. “The skill sessions really encouraged me to try some new trick shots and helped me with some ideas on how to move the ball faster up the field.

The Hallorans were pleased to see elite training in the Southwest region. They grew up learning lacrosse in South Jersey when their father, Shawn Halloran, a former quarterback at Boston College, was coaching with several East Coast colleges.

“Learning the game when we were younger and still living on the East Coast, we always do what we can to still try and keep up with what’s going on up north, said Cassidy, Riley and Dylan. “Our goal has always been to play at the next level. And with the coaches from the East Coast coming down to Texas, it renews our hopes to still be able to play at the next level.”
